A Silly Sonnet

For November, 2005

November twenty-seventh, eight-oh-four,
Superiority, a warrior,
Was smitten by the princess, Mooing Cow,
And having searched his soul, he wondered how
Her father, Oriole, the chief, would take
Proposals from a rival Bellyache.
The problem was resolved when Oriole
Lost all his able men to Fishing Pole,
And had to come to Bellyache to choose
A son-in-law for Mooing Cow or lose
The chances for his tribe, the Cardinals,
To be successful in Niagara Falls.
Superiority wed Mooing Cow
Creating peace and settlement, some how.
