Worms and Awards

Seven Worms

A Single Sentence
Silly Sonnet
By Izzy Sommers

While digging in her garden, Jennifer
Discovered seven worms that said to her,
“If you desist from harming us we will
Bestow on you a hundred dollar bill
With opportunities to make some more
If only you will open up your door
To worms and centipedes and bumble bees
And offer them some cheddar cheese and peas
And entertain them with some pulchritude
Allowing all of them some latitude,”
But, Jennifer replied, “A hundred’s not
Enough to buy the lovely charms I’ve got
And, too, I’d rather write some poetry
Than soil my fingers with the likes of thee.”

THE END
