AFTER THE BANG

A Silly Sonnet

By Izzy Sommers

Of Welland, Canada

In November, 2005

A wren in Wonderland in winter sang
A lovely song before the bomb went “Bang!”
And blew the roller coaster on it’s side
Thus making it impossible to ride.
In yesteryear, a tear meant beer as clearly
As a seer’s career could steer a mere
Calliope on roller blades that made
Catastrophe do graded staid glade braid.
Today, when all the chromosomes are apt
To have a bend or two and you, enrapt,
Might sing along with Mitch and dance a jig
With roasted pig without a prison gig.
Why hesitate to write a silly ode
Without deciphering da Vinci’s code?

THE END
